Christ Church has a very active program of pastoral care ministry under the overall supervision of the Rector and the Priest Associate.  It is designed to help parishioners of all ages who are in need of pastoral assistance because of a serious illness, a death or other problem where faith and prayer may be helpful and comforting.

The pastoral care team is specifically designed to reach out  to homebound members who live in several of the assisted living communities in the Exeter area as well as those who are still in their homes.  Some team members take the Holy Eucharist to those who cannot attend church services.  Others assist the clergy at worship services at the assisted living  communities.   River Woods and Langdon Place currently host monthly services.  Some team members make pastoral visits.  There is a large group of members who host receptions in the parish hall after funerals and memorial services.

The pastoral care team also shares an exciting relationship with the large number of Episcopalians who  are independent residents at the River Woods community, several of whom attend Christ Church regularly and support our various ministries.  This group has had several gatherings at River Woods during the past three years.  It is an expanding church within our larger church.

This dynamic ministry of pastoral care continues to grow and flourish with each passing day!

Our Pastoral Associate happens to have a passionate love for sports, especially baseball!  Thus it is no surprise that he enjoys organizing parish outings to watch the New Hampshire Fisher Cats in Manchester.  There have been three annual trips with another already in the making for 2014.  The Sunday trips involve a Courtyard tailgate party at the church and a bus trip to the day game.  At the two most recent games our choir sang the National Anthem and the Priest Associate actually tossed  a ceremonial first pitch.  Kids run the bases after the game!  It’s one form of intergenerational summer fun at Christ Church!
