for Children and Youth
Christ Church Exeter offers different worship and learning opportunities for children, as well as resources for young families. A calendar for the 2026-2027 program year will be available in late August 2026.
Sunday School
On most Sundays between September and May we offer Sunday School classes for children ages 5-12. Sunday School begins at 9:45 a.m. in our classrooms. We use the curriculum Feasting on the Word. This curriculum is lectionary-based, meaning the children will be hearing and learning about the same Bible reading(s) read in church on that particular Sunday. There are two groups: a younger classroom for ages 5-8, and an older classroom for ages 9-12. Registration runs throughout the year. Sunday School teachers return their classes to the sanctuary during the sign of peace in the middle of the service, so school-age children can be present with their families for communion.
Childcare
Childcare is available from September through May during the 10 a.m. service in the nursery. Babies and toddlers between ages 6 months and 4 years can be dropped off starting at 9:45 a.m., and may remain during the entire service. Parents and guardians are encouraged to bring babies and children back into the sanctuary for communion if they wish.
Children’s Chapel is offered once per month between September and May in our side chapel at 10 a.m. This is a worship service centering our kids’ participation and experience that will be their own liturgy of the word (the first half of the Sunday service), including readings, a kids’ sermon, prayers, and songs. Parents and caregivers are welcome to attend with their children, but are also welcome to go into the main worship service in the sanctuary. Like Sunday School, children’s chapel attendees return to the sanctuary during the sign of peace to be present for communion.
Year-round, there is a children’s resource table in the back of the sanctuary with a kids’ worship bulletin, books, crayons, and fidget toys to keep little ones occupied in the pews. Caregivers will also find a family restroom with a changing table and step stools in the hallway at the same side of the sanctuary.
Children and youth are always welcome in our worship services.
