At Christ Church, you will find a community that is rooted in tradition and a faith that is relevant in today’s world. All Sunday services include the Scripture readings for the day, a sermon, prayers and communion—the sharing of the blessed bread and wine. We call the service “Holy Eucharist,” but other churches may refer to it as “the Mass”—“Holy Communion” or “The Lord’s Supper.” We sing hymns at the later service supported by the majestic organ.
While most of our worship comes from the Book of Common Prayer, we use a printed bulletin on Sundays so everyone can easily follow along. Join us after the service for coffee hour, our hospitality time that offers a casual environment to get to know one another.
What about kids?
Christ Church intentionally makes room for children. There is a Children’s Table at the far left side of the worship space near the side door: it is filled with children’s books, coloring sheets and quiet toys. In addition, there are coloring sheets, crayons, and colored pencils available at the front entrance, and a table for coloring at the back of the church.
If a child gets especially fussy, left front side of the church—known affectionately as the “Kid Pit” offers a quick exit to the Parish Hall or downstairs. You can also find a changing table and a step stool in the restroom just outside the sanctuary (up the half-stairs) on the same side of the building.
Child Care is provided during the 10:00 service during the school year.
Sunday School is offered most weeks during the “program year” (fall, winter and spring), and our Children’s Chapel meets in the Chapel once a month. You can learn more about our children’s and youth programs on the children’s formation page.
Accessibility and Parking
The church is just a few minutes’ drives from downtown Exeter, and is an easy walk from Phillips Exeter Academy. We have a large parking lot and ample on-street parking.
Accessible parking spots are available near the front entrances on Sunday mornings. We have two automatic door openers—one into the Narthex entry hall and one off the courtyard past the outdoor stone altar. In 2025 we upgraded our pathways to allow for better access. (Dedication ceremony below).
We have an elevator that offers full access to the building.
There are also four wheel chair accessible, gender-inclusive single restrooms off the Parish Hall.
Clergy are always willing to bring communion to those who have a harder time making their own way up to communion.
